Viken Tavitian travels daily between Nicosia and Jupiter where he gets his inspirations from that largest planet. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he lives with his passion in physics. Recently he started the Vikexploratorium, a unique science and technology show in Cyprus for 7-99 year old kids developing thousands of experiments and demonstrations that are highly educational fun very entertaining and most of all without blah blah. The main aim of his efforts is to convey that science is all around you, you don't need to be at a research lab or university to have fun.Scared of science and afraid to ask? In this TEDxNicosia Talk, Viken Tavitian strives through the fun experiments he designs and disseminates to dispell our stereotypes and fears about science. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized event.
